 Dedicated hosting is the ideal solution for customers who
require the ability to handle large volumes of traffic or complex CGI jobs. In addition, dedicated hosting can offer flexibility not possible with
shared hosting.
QWK.Net's dedicated servers are configured similarly to QWK.Net's regular UNIX web hosting
servers, except that you are the only customer on the server. Dedicated servers are hosted in the same facility as our shared hosting servers, and
enjoy the same benefits including 24/7 monitoring and response. Server management is QWK.Net's responsibility, and is included at no extra cost. Additionally,
if any hardware fails on a QWKServer, we will replace it at no charge.
Dedicated server configurations can be modified if they don't exactly fit your needs. Please
contact us for details.

This is a great baseline configuration for
many sites. The Pentium III offers a significant performance jump from
the Celeron, with additional cache and a 50% faster system bus. Moderate
CGI and scripting can be handled, as well as database services. Higher traffic
levels (200-300 GB/month) are not typically a problem for this server.

If this server can't handle your site, it's
time to talk to IBM about one of their refrigerator-sized offerings. The
QWKServer Peta offers dual Pentium III 866's, additional
RAM, and a SCSI disk array for the ultimate data protection and performance
under load.

DETAILS AND NOTES |
|
QWKServers include a monthly bandwidth allocation of 30GB,
or about 128KB/s. Additional bandwidth is available at $5/GB. Bandwidth is computed and billed based off your total, actual aggregate usage - not
by averages, peaks, or any other method. Unless special conditions exist, all servers run unthrottled. Data can flow from your server at up to 10Mbps
or more, ensuring that your site will not slow down during peak periods because of throttling limitations.
QWKServers are normally available for use within seven days of ordering and receipt of
payment.
All servers are built to the same quality specifications as our standard hosting machines.
This includes an extensive burn-in, 100% steel American-made rack-mount cases, high-quality Tyan motherboard, Micron SDRAM, 100Mbps full-duplex ethernet,
and assorted extras. IDE disks are IBM DeskStars, and SCSI Disks are Seagate Cheetahs or Barracudas. These drives have excellent quality/performance
records with us.
There are no setup fees for QWKServers. However, we do require the first month's fees
to be paid in full before server activation. You may upgrade to another QWKServer at any time. There will be a $250.00 fee if you choose to do so,
to cover staff time in moving your data and configuration to the new server.
Administrative ("root") access is not available for QWKServers. We cannot guarantee quality
or reliability of service when individuals other than QWK.Net Staff members have administrative access, so we have chosen to err on the side of system
reliability in this case. However, we are happy to make reasonable modifications to your server's configuration upon request. Significant assistance
with the setup of additional software on your server may be billed at hourly rates, with your approval and at our discretion. |
